The Army Engineer Memorial Awards were established in 1967 as a living memorial to Engineer Officers killed in Vietnam and are given annually to honor all Engineer Officers who died in the line of duty. A candidate for an award may be any graduating high school senior who is a citizen of the United States and whose sponsor, parent, or legal guardian is a U.S. Army Engineer (active duty, retired or deceased), National Guard U.S. Army Engineer, Reserve U. S. Army Engineer, or current Department of the Army employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), as well as a current member of the Army Engineer Spouses Club. The merit based awards are open to students in all fields of study and are based on academic and extracurricular achievement during high school. All monies awarded must be applied toward tuition or scholastic expenses at a college, university, technical or vocational school.
The Geraldine K. Morris Award was established in 2006. Mrs. Morris served as an Army nurse, was Honorary President of the Army Engineer Spouses’ Club and wife of the 44th Chief of Engineers, LTG (Ret) John Morris. A candidate for this merit based award may be any graduating high school senior who intends to enroll in a program leading to a nursing degree or certification, is a citizen of the United States and whose sponsor, parent, or legal guardian is a U.S. Army Engineer (active duty, retired or deceased), National Guard U.S. Army Engineer, Reserve U. S. Army Engineer, or current Department of the Army employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The candidate must also have a parent or legal guardian who is a current member in the Army Engineer Spouses Club.(Exceptions do apply if parent or legal guardian is deceased). This award will be renewable based on the student's GPA and their maintaining full-time enrollment in a nursing program.
The Army Engineer Spouses' Club, through efforts of its membership and outside contributors, has established a permanent fund for the perpetuation of the Army Engineer Memorial Award. Q: SAT/ACT test scores are not available to mail directly from The College Board and ACT Test Administration. Do you accept photocopies of the test score reports?
A: Please include your SAT/ACT test scores on your official transcript, if your school does not include them on the official transcript, a print out from the SAT/ACT website is sufficient. If the awards committee has any questions regarding your test scores we will contact your school guidance counselor.
Q: Can I include a letter of recommendation with my application?
A: No. Please do not attach resumes, letters of recommendation, or certificates as they will not be reviewed or considered.
Q: May I act as my own sponsor and compete for the awards?
A: No. To qualify for an award, you must be a graduating high school senior who is a citizen of the United States and whose sponsor, parent, or legal guardian is a Member of the Army Engineer Spouses club and U.S. Army Engineer (active duty, reserve/national guard, retired or deceased) or current Department of the Army employee of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
